About

I'm Alissa Nicolet, an LCA engineer and software builder based in the Netherlands. I've sat in every chair around the sustainability-software table: the customer who needed a number she could defend, the methodology expert who had to verify it, and now the product owner deciding what gets built.

What I do now

I'm a product owner for product-footprinting software serving European retailers — the tooling layer where regulations like CSRD, ESPR, and digital product passports turn into features, data models, and backlog. My job is making sure the numbers the software produces are ones a verifier, a customer, and a regulator can all audit.

How I got here

I started on the methodology side: life-cycle assessment and EPDs under EN 15804 and the Dutch NMD system. As a customer of LCA software I kept hitting the same wall — numbers nobody could trace back to an assumption. So I started building the alternative: tooling where a verifier approves the methodology once and every calculation inherits that approval, instead of re-arguing it per project.

Most recently that's LCI·GRAPH, an open-source pipeline that pulls life-cycle inventory data out of academic papers and into a queryable graph — because the field's best data is still locked in PDFs.

How I work

• A number nobody can audit is a liability, not a deliverable.
• Predictable beats clever — a user must always be able to explain where a number came from.
• AI drafts, rules decide, humans approve.
• A thin slice that crosses the whole stack proves more than a completed layer.
